18th year round the sun

18 years since I first woke up with a cry,

Kicked my feet into the air,

18 years since the day my mother,

Hugged me for the first time.

Thankful for those who are still here with me, 

Thankful for those who left. 

For all those who made my cheek hurt, 

From smiling, 

To all those who made me cry, 

You made my years round the sun, 

Worth the while. 

Ever grateful for my father, 

Who picked me up whenever I fell, 

Saved me from all the evil, 

And became my safe haven for all eternity. 

Beholden to my mother, 

Who was there with me resolutely, 

And helped me bring out, 

The best of me. 

You two are my earth, my sky. 

And everything in between. 

To all my friends, 

I wish you the best in life, 

Because it is for you that I could spread my wings, 

And fly.

I appreciate every second of time I have lived, 

Surrounded by so much warmth and pleasure. 

And today, 

On the day that marks my 18th year on earth, 

I wish nothing but to live to the fullest, 

And make my existence, 

One that everyone will remember with fondness.
