Moonshine Blues

The moon is so lucky,
It gets to nap around clouds so soft,
Rest it's head,
And still stay aloft.
Fly in the sky jet black
And make the children on earth,
Dreams of things so radiant.
I wish I could snap my fingers
And give the gift of light
To our lovely planetoid
Because it fulfills the dreams of millions
But still lives in solitude
In the unending black sky.
It stays hanging in the air,
For hours at end.
We murmur soft praises when it changes colours and sizes,
But never realize,
That those might get lost in space,
The black empty space,
Where the moon lives alone, so alone.
But then I cognize
Aren't we, the people,
The same as the moon?
We talk to each other, not letting our guards down,
Try our best to shine for our kinfolk,
While hiding our deepest fears,
And never letting them see our dark side.
Do you see how similar you are?
To the white pumpkin in the sky,
The one that you always look up to
But never comprehend
That you are the moon of your life,
The one who shines bright,
Surrounded by people,
Yet lone, so lone.
